Today I will help you to understand the project report of Vermicompost. We will discuss the making process of vermicomposting, opportunity in business, and other ifs and buts.

Lets dive in deeper

What is Vermicomposting - FAQ

Vermicomposting is the process of decomposing wastes, including plant and animal waste such as cow dung, with the help of earthworms.

Vermicomposting cost and profit

Vermicompost cost 35 k in 1-acre profit 5 lakh, 20 lakh profit in 1 year because it is done 4 times in a year. Kechua se khad banaye No competition !

Preparation of Land

It is important to choose a land that does not fill water. You can make 4 beds in one acre land. Next you need a poly bag of 30 feet long and 4.5 feet wide for one bed followed by some bricks (around 25-30). Bricks are used as a boundary and helpful for not allowing worms to go outside the bed.

Before putting the dung on a bed you need to provide water for a couple of days so that methane gas should remove.  Methane gas can kill your worms so water process should be done in correct manner. Cover the bed with the polybag then fill it with the dung(cold). After that you can put some earth worms and mix them well in whole bed.

You have to look after bed, it should not become warm.

Production of Vermicompost

Around six quintal vermicompost can be produced from a single bed. From 4 beds you will get 24 quintals. Vermicopost can be easily done 5 times in a year. Then you will get 5 x 24 = 120 quintals in a year.

Vermicompost gets ready - 40 days

It will take approximately 60 days to get ready meanwhile you have to provide water in the gap of 2-3 days in winters for the period of thirty days. In summer you need to provide water to the beds continuously for 30 days, you should not take any gap.

You can get your first instalment of vermicompost around the 40th day. You have to collect the compost in installments of 3 to 4 days till 60-65 days.

Challenges in vermicompost - Problems during the process

Water is the main problem in this process. Sometime people fails to provide water regularly in summers. On the other hand selection of the land is very important don't select the land where water stands regularly. Preparation of the bed should be correct water should not store in between. You need a filter machine to filter your prepared compost.

Solutions

Select correct land, always cover the bed especially in summers, try to keep it cool and moist, use the bunch of straw or paraari (wheat waste) to cover the bed. Hence you can contribute to the environment as well. Use cow dung as priority, don't use dap urea type chemicals.

You can purchase cow dung from villages it will financially encourage villages. Farmers who use to purchase vermicompost should check earth worm eggs in the compost by applying this method you can slightly judge the organic vermicompost. You can filter the compost manually in initial days.

Various verities of earth worms
