Central institute of medicinal and plants bangalore is helping farmers widely. CIMAP in Bangalore was established in 1938 and established in 38 acres at Allasandra near Yelahanka.
The centre has achieved many awards and continuously works for the benefits of MAP’s farmers, entrepreneurs and industries of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and area of Andhra Pradesh bordering Karnataka.

CSIR CIMAP Hyderabad
Hyderabad CIMAP centre was established in July 1982 in a 12 hectare area. In Andhra Pradesh around 5000 farmers are taking the advantage of CIMAP varieties and technologies and doing cultivation in 9000 hectares of land.
Achievements
The centre has developed aromatic grasses, row scented geranium, menthol mint, lemon scented gum, basils and medicinal crops like ashwagandha, periwinkle, pink of bitters, ambrette and itching bean.

CSIR CIMAP Pantnagar centre
CSIR Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic plants, Research Centre, Pantnagar was established in 1963 named North Zonal Centre of Central Indian Medicinal Plants Organization (CIMPO) at Haldwani with 50 acres farm in Udham Singh Nagar’s Tehri region, later extended from 50 acres to 286 acres by 1967.
Achievements
Mint revolution is one of the biggest agricultural revolutions in India and credit goes to Pantnagar CSIR centre. Mint cultivation in India increased from 15 hectares to more than 3 lakh hectares. This centre helped for geranium farming subsidy to many farmers.
Over the years CIMAP research centre Pantnagar has developed increased varieties of menthol mint, spearmint, lemongrass (chirharit), palmarosa, citronella, damask rose, safed satavar and pili satavar.
Centre has developed agro technology of mentha sapp, lemongrass, palmarosa, vetiver, geranium, damask-rose, clary sage, ocimum, chamomile, silybum, satawar, artemisia, kalmegh, aloevera, sarpagandha and ashwagandha. Centre has established Bio-village on mentha, geranium and artemisia.

About CIMAP CSIR
IN 1957 it was established as the Central Indian Medicinal Plant Organisation (CIMPO). It was established with a mandate to work and stimulate research on medicinal plants; later aromatic plants were also brought under it.
CIMPO started functioning practically from 26 March 1959. CIMPO was renamed to CIMAP in 1978. CIMAP institute shifted to near Kukrail forest Lucknow in 1980.
Mandate and responsibilities of CIMAP CSIR
CIMAP is responsible for multi disciplinary high quality research in agriculture, biological and chemical sciences. The institute has to extend technologies and services to the growers and entrepreneurs of MAPs with the following mandate.
