This is great news for farmers who are interested in tomato farming and brinjal farming in India. Earlier they had to choose one of them. Now they can grow both these vegetables together and can get the brinjal and tomato yields together. For more information on tomato farming profit per acre click the given link and tomato farming project report will open in front of you.
Brimato plant grafting technique
The scientists of Indian Council of Agricultural Research have achieved great success. Actually with the grafting technique the scientists have prepared a crop that can grow brinjal and tomato on the same plant. This plant has been given the name of brimato.
Brimato grafting plant
Bri + Mato = Brimato
Bri stands fo brinjal and mato denotes tomato
Brimato meaning
Combination of two vegetables brinjal and tomato in one plant is called brimato.
Brimato cultivation benefits
Brimato cultivation will not only be beneficial for farmers living in rural areas but also for people living in urban areas who don't have much space and are forced to choose selected crops. People who are interested in garden farming can also utilise this beneficial farming and now they can plant both tomato and brinjal in the same space in their garden as well.
How brimato formed
ICAR and Indian vegetable research Varanasi, after the successful production of crop in tomato, now prepared brimato. According to ICAR the grafting operations was carried out when the brinjal seedlings were 25-30 days old and tomato seedlings were 22-25 days old.
According to the scientists of Indian vegetable Research Institute Varanasi after 15 to 18 days of grafting operations grafted plants were transplanted into the field. During the early growth phase care was taken to maintain the balanced growth in the offspring of brinjal and tomato. Scientists gave fertilizer in the field according to the need. After 60 to 70 days of transplanting both brinjal and tomato vegetables started coming into the plant. After that one plant has produced 2.383 kg tomato and 2.64 kg brinjal
What is grafting
Scientists are using a grafting method to accelerate the production of vegetable crops. Bimato is developed by interspecific grafting methods such as side grafting or splice methods.
Grafting is the method of joining parts of two plants in such a way that they form a unit and function as one plant. The lower part of the grafted plant is known as rootstock and the upper portion of the grafted plant is known as scion.
