What is the National Bamboo Mission (NBM) in India?

National Information has a dream mission of the Indian government to replace plastic from the bamboo made items such as bamboo water bottles, bamboo socks, tissue papers, bags, packaging items, toilet papers etc. 

At the moment mostly polythene bags are used for these and other products. The Indian government wants farmers to do the bamboo cultivation on a large scale so that businesses can produce more items made of bamboo. Therefore they launched NBM (national bamboo mission). 

The cabinet on economics affairs has approved the national bamboo mission during 14th finance commission under the national mission for sustainable agriculture. It was allotted that farmers can get 50% subsidy through NBM.

What is the subsidy ratio? 

Farmers getting Rs 120 subsidy on 1 plant, loan available with 50% subsidy. Subsidy amount is distributed in 3 installments, farmers will get all 3 installments in 3 years. 

In the first year installment farmers will get 60% subsidy, in second year 30% and in 3rd year 20%. After calculating the cost required for bamboo farming you can decide and start the cultivation. You have to invest only 50% of the cost from your pocket rest the government is giving you through the NBM scheme.

The 60% is divided between state and Central Government in which the state govt gives 10% and central government 90% subsidy.
